East Wake Academy Varsity Baseball is ranked 87th in the state, 1st in the conference, and their record is 11-3 as of 4/28/25. Senior Jordan Fuentes, who is a “constant” on the team, also said that the most memorable game was against Grace Christian Academy, when the Eagles got to within one run of tying the game. “I think that at this moment we realized how good we actually are,” Jordan explained. Most people would be glad to be ranked 87th in their home state, but not Jordan. “I think it could be higher,” Jordan said.
EWA has hit 26 home runs this year, with junior Dylan Palmer leading the team. “Dylan Palmer has taken the biggest leadership role on the team,” said senior Weston Dixon. Dylan is ranked 5th in North Carolina for home runs and ranked nationally for his slugging percentage, which is currently 1.231. Seniors Jordan Fuentes and Weston Dixon have both “improved a lot.” Jordan says, “I have improved a lot on my approach to the plate. I learned to use the field and not just hit as hard as possible”. Weston reportedly had 3 errors in the first 6 games; however, he claims, “I’ve 100% improved in the field this season,” as he hasn’t had an error since.
As of April 21, 2025, with their last game being Thursday, April 17, 2025, the team hit 5 total home runs, winning the game 10-0. “We’re 11-,3 and 2 of the 3 losses were against top 3 ranked schools,” said Weston Dixon.
