With being involved with East Wake Academy’s prom for over 20 years, Emily Massey looks forward to seeing the students' faces when they walk into the Mardi Gras themed venue; “they all look so beautiful and handsome.” “ I have planned every prom in the last 10 years, so it gets easier,” says Massey. Starting early and being flexible were two things that kept the event successful. Although Mrs. Massey gets negative opinions every year, it’s important to “not take it personally,” says the teacher.
Prom is also well-loved by East Wake Academy Senior, Michelle Duffy. “My favorite part was taking pictures with my friends at the WRAL Azela Gardens, since I was able to see others from school,” says Michelle. Most prom attendees will get ready, take pictures, and then eat dinner, which is exactly what Michelle did. “My friends and I went to Cowfish, and it set the tone for the night,” Michelle exclaimed! Not only did Michelle love her dinner, but she also enjoyed prom, especially since “there were more people than last year,” said the senior.

Prom is a night for juniors and seniors, which is why first-time goer, junior Owen Walls, likes prom better than homecoming. “The decorations looked so good! The masks and props at the photo booth were fire,” said Owen.
