Despite having a couple of players sidelined with injuries, East Wake Academy’s Varsity Women’s Soccer team keeps plugging along. Team member Ainsley Ide, a freshman, still sees a lot of positives for the team. “We’ve gotten a lot closer, and we have a great coach encouraging us to improve daily, said Ainsley, adding that because of their dedication, improvement has been seen across the board. Even though their record is 4-6-2, as of April 21, the team has adapted well, given their bench situation, because they have still won some games. Though they were without some players, “we definitely had to adapt, we had to ‘lock in’ and rely on each other a lot more,” she said.

Captain Michelle Duffy also battled an injury. “I like to inspire the younger players and motivate them. Since I’ve been playing so long, it’s nice that they can look up to me.” According to Michelle, the game against Thales Academy was difficult, but rewarding. “At the beginning of the game, we had poor communication. But by the end, we came together to win.”
